MOMS Club: A Support Group for Stay at Home Mothers
by Laurie Neal of 20ish Parents
Staying home with children every day can be one of the most rewarding experiences in your life. It can also be difficult. Many stay at home parents yearn for adult interaction and are on the lookout for playmates for their children. If this sounds familiar, perhaps the MOMS Club is for you.
MOMS Club is an international non-profit organization. It was started in California in1983 by Mary James. With over 700 local chapters and more than 35,000 members, there is a good chance that there is a MOMS Club chapter near you.
The MOMS Club was founded as a support network for all stay at home mothers. The club's founding principals are still
working today. The MOMS Club offers daytime meetings and children are welcome! A variety of activities are offered for mothers and children - from arts and crafts to discussion groups to picnics to playgroups and more.
One of the goals of the MOMS Club is to help children in the community. In order to do this, each chapter performs a yearly service project. The projects range from food drives to marathons to town clean up days.
If you are looking for a MOMS Club chapter near you, visit their website at http://www.MOMSClub.org or email
momsclub@aol.com. The volunteers there will put you in touch with the closest chapter. If there is not currently a chapter near you, the volunteers can guide you in setting up a chapter in your hometown.
